    Access to the U.S. Census Bureau's GUPS site is limited to registered users. Applicants must represent organizations which have a demonstrated need for this data consumption. GUPS Web access is granted on an individual basis only. GUPS data cannot be shared or discussed with colleagues or associates that have not been approved by the GUPS.


    Complete the following form to start the registration process.

  • GUPS User are required to register using an email address associated with an approved organization. Group or generic email addresses such as "research@someorg.com" and personal email addresses (i.e., Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) may not be accepted.
    • PLEASE NOTE: Registering does not give you GUPS Web access. Approval by the Census Bureau is required. After registering you will be asked to verify your email address. This review and approval process will begin once your email address is verified.

    • Choose your challenge response questions and answers.

      Note: Answers are NOT case sensitive. Your questions and answers must be unique and have a minimum of four characters.
    • Create a Password

        • At least three (3) of the following:
        • English upper-case characters (A-Z);
        • English lower-case characters (a-z);
        • Numeric (0-9);
        • Non-Alphanumeric (ex.,!, $, #)
        NOTE: Passwords cannot contain portions of your email address, your first name, or your last name

        • Password requirements:
          • At least 15 characters
          • At least three (3) of the following:
          • English upper-case characters (A-Z);
          • English lower-case characters (a-z);
          • Numeric (0-9);
          • Non-Alphanumeric (ex.,!, $, #)
